Looks like a fabulous trip! Such a beautiful place and one that I would love to visit someday. The Dooagh Village is so quaint and charming and the Inishownen Peninsula is breathtaking! History is always interesting if we just remember it's all about the people. I had never heard of the Dooagh Famine Village till now and I really enjoyed it - sometimes it's good to play tourist in your own land. Gives it a different perspective. I haven't read Inishowen, but might do so - I've only read his funny books - The Secret Life of the Irish Male - hilarious! He is very good on radio he did a weekly slot commenting in verse on topical issues. I used to podcast them on the RTE Drivetime website. He has a caustic wit.
All the best, CatherineCatherinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16116884676266268214noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-72554791720527032.post-90932737639924008722010-09-16T08:37:33.405+01:002010-09-16T08:37:33.405+01:00Great post! Two summers ago, my husband and I toured (by car) the same places -- we were delighted beyond belief to stumble across the Dooagh Famine Village -- it was odd and wonderful and so obviously the passion of a single imagination. And Inishownen is spectacular in itself. Are you familiar with the Joseph O'Connor novel Inishowen? One of my faves.T. https://www.blogger.com/profile/16509409207991963533noreply@blogger.com
